Wife suspects imminent domestic violence, calls Waukesha police

When police receive a call about domestic violence, they respond immediately and often will make an arrest. These types of charges can have serious consequences whether or not physical violence ever occurred.

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2012, the Waukesha Police Department received a call from a woman claiming that she thought her husband was going to commit an act of domestic violence in the near future.

Specifically, the woman told the officer on the other end of the line that she and her husband had gotten into a fight at a restaurant in the area. When they left the establishment, their dispute continued as they drove back to the local hotel where they were staying with their six children.

When the husband entered the hotel room, the woman made the call just after 9 in the evening. She said that she believed her husband had gone inside to get a gun. She claimed that she feared he was going to shoot her upon his return.

Officers responded to the call. From outside the hotel room door, police ordered the man to exit the room. When he followed their direction, the officers took the man into custody. When the man was searched, they found a 45-caliber gun.

The 32-year-old man was charged with recklessly endangering safety and disorderly conduct-domestic abuse charges.

It is impossible to predict the future actions of a person, and if you are charged with a domestic violence offense it is your right to fight the accusations made against you.
