Many young adults in Waukesha County are at a critical time in their lives. Excited and overwhelmed with sudden independence, many are forced to make essential decisions about their future. Some young adults are not mentally ready to make these life-changing decisions, and may be led down the wrong path by peer pressure or the need to survive.
One such 21-year-old man faces approximately $100,000 in fines and a 40-year prison sentence if convicted of multiple charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to commit/deliver designer drugs, maintaining a drug trafficking place and the manufacture of THC.
Law enforcement officers found paraphernalia items and nearly a dozen marijuana plants after obtaining a warrant to search the man’s home on July 24 of last year. This was the second search warrant officers used in this particular case.
The first warrant was obtained on April 26, 2013, when a tip came to Waukesha County officials from the Department of Homeland Security indicating that a suspicious package was headed to a Brookfield residence. The package was thought to contain ecstasy.
The man said that he was purchasing ingredients to manufacture ecstasy or MDMA, but that he had never made the substance previously.
While many people may make poor choices in life, some do not understand the serious consequences of their actions. Criminal convictions are life-changing, often leading to extensive prison time and fines. Those accused of engaging in criminal activity may benefit by partnering with a criminal defense attorney. A knowledgeable lawyer can help you plan the best route of defense for your specific case.
