The penalties surrounding sex crimes can be far more extensive than one realizes. If convicted, one could potentially receive an extended prison sentence, as well as hefty fines. Aside from that possibility, he or she may also be required to register as a sex offender. It’s that dubious distinction that can be the hardest thing for one to live with. It can destroy one’s good reputation in and around Waukesha, threatening any chances he or she may have of successfully moving on with life. While such a stigma may be unfair, it’s a reality that many are forced to deal with.
A Minnesota man could one day be forced to deal with such a stigma after being arrested for criminal sexual conduct involving a young girl. While the relationship between the two wasn’t specified, they both admit to having met at a local home multiple times over several weeks. Their encounters allegedly began with seemingly innocent touching, but eventually escalated into much more serious sexual activity.
A conviction for such a crime can drastically alter one’s life. Yet at the same time, one shouldn’t be deterred from putting forth his or her best defense to authorities. Whether it’s to discredit false accusations or to help in securing counseling or other assistance, one should attempt to make a strong argument to whoever hears his or her case. Yet a strong knowledge of what one’s legal options are may be required to mount such a defense. That’s why one may wish consider working with a criminal defense attorney who has the knowledge and experience necessary to help earn a favorable outcome.
